The New Education Policy, NEP was approved in July 2020 to improve the standard of education in pre-schools to the secondary level. The New Education Policy 2020 has replaced the existing policy of education of 1986, the aim of which was to improve the education standard or models of teaching in the country.

In the New Education Policy, the objective is to benefit children so that they do not lose their opportunity to learn and build a successful career.  The NEP 2020 target is adding a hundred percent gross enrollment ratio in schools.

Further, the New Education Policy introduces the mandatory years of schooling of children from age 6-14 years, and three years of pre-schooling of age group 3-6 years. In simple words, the new system has introduced 12 years of mandatory schooling for children with three years of pre-schooling/Anganwadi.

The ultimate vision of New Education Policy 2020 comes under the ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat program’ and ‘NIPUN Bharat’.  The government’s ultimate mission is to target five crore children in the age group of 3 to 11 years so that they can actively achieve the goals in their lives.

According to Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India,  the prime objective of New Education Policy is to meet the 21st century of education standards, and develop equality between the different societies by giving education to all.
