Bihar School Education Board conducts Teacher Eligibility Test (Bihar TET) to shortlist candidates that aspire to become teachers and do teaching to enhance the quality of education, and productivity in government schools specifically. The exam is conducted at two levels wherein Paper 1 qualifies teachers for Class I-V and Paper 2 qualifies teachers for class VI-VIII, qualifying these exams a candidate becomes eligible to apply for classes as per paper cleared. This exam is conducted annually or as per the vacancies available.
The eligibility criteria for Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (Bihar TET) varies based on the category an individual is applying for.
The candidate should be a national citizen of India having a domicile certificate of Bihar. This criterion remains constant for both categories.
The candidates are required to be at the age bracket of 21 to 35 years. Age relaxation for reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC and female candidates is 5% as per the BTET recruitment policy.
The Exam Pattern of Bihar TET
It is an offline MCQ-based examination with a duration of 2hours 30 minutes. The medium of the examination is Hindi. There are about 150 questions of 1 mark each in each paper. The passing percentage to clear the examination is 50% failing which a candidate will not be able to apply for teaching jobs in Bihar Government and government-aided schools. There is no negative marking in this examination.
